A Promising Interview

A promising interview today. They need a workaholic with infrastructure experience (check), good understanding of bits of hex dumps (check) and one who’s not afraid of not getting too much credit for his work (except the money). I said i’m ok with all that. I really am.

Then the interviewer elaborated on the third part. He said: “I see that I didn’t scare you as much as I meant to. You will be in situations when it will seem to you that everyone ignores your professional opinion. In fact, you will be lucky to get the chance to express your professional opinion. You will be in the most important division of the company, but personally and professionally you will be on the lowest grade in the hierarchy. Your boss will often change his priorities on daily or hourly basis and you’ll be lucky to be notified about that, let alone – understand his intentions. So – do you still want this job?

“Yes”, i said. I can afford it; I know exactly what he was talking about from personal experience, not just from Dilbert, and i will handle it gracefully. It’s very good that they warn about it in the very first interview. I already have a deep respect for this company and i’m not cynical.

There’s one hurdle though – aptitude tests at Pilat. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm….
